Speaker Spotlight – ‘Prof. Paul Lee’ : 2nd Annual MarketsandMarkets Minimally Invasive Surgery Conference

The 2nd Annual MarketsandMarkets Minimally Invasive Surgery Conference is gearing up to host a stellar collection of surgeons, doctors & researchers across 6 different streams of surgery namely, Urology, Colorectal, Hip & Knee, Gynaecology, Bariatric, Sports Medicine & Spinal Surgery.
With over 60+ speakers sharing enriching insights through their decades of experience, we cannot wait for them to showcase their presentations on the 14th – 15th of September in London, UK.

In the build-up to the conference, we sat down for a quick chat with ‘Professor Paul Lee‘, who founded ‘MSK Doctors’ to pioneer innovative techniques in regenerative medicine and has over 10+ years of experience in knee & hip orthopaedics.

1. What, according to you, are the recent advances in minimally invasive surgery and current challenges that need immediate attention?

Minimally invasive treatment has advanced a great deal within the MSK (musculoskeletal) field. Since COVID-19, our understanding and approach with cell biology has increased significantly. As we are now in the biological era with orthopaedics and MSK surgery, there are many new treatment options available for our patients. I have been growing cartilage, bone, and ligaments with surgery for many years, but now, we have the means and technical know-how of doing it in a minimally invasive fashion, which is truly exciting. Besides biological and surgical robotics, currently medical artificial intelligence application is a great challenge to us all and this shall surely further change the landscape of medicine.

2. What are the key take away points from your presentation topic which will help in educating & expanding the knowledge base of the attendees?

Through my lecture, “Minimally Invasive Join Regeneration, from Injections to Cell Based Surgery” I will discuss the philosophy of biological regeneration for synovial joints and the benefits and limitations of current injection therapies. The key message to be grasped is how to choose the correct biological tools to treat our patients based on the biological principle. I will also discuss what is currently available and what the future holds for biological cell regeneration in orthopaedics.
