In 1997, he was appointed as Consultant Medical Microbiologist/Infection Control Doctor of the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, UK. He was granted Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer status with the University of Sheffield. He was then appointed as Director of Infection Prevention and Control for the Trust in 2000 until 2017.
He led the Level 7 Credit 30 Healthcare Associated Infections Module at Sheffield Hallam University annually since 2011 which was consistently highly evaluated. He co-led the Medical Leadership Programme for Iraqi doctors, dentists and pharmacists at the University within the context of a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health.
When appointed in Qatar November 2017 through his appointment as Senior Consultant Medical Microbiologist and Chair of Infection Prevention and Control Committee of Ambulatory Care Center and Vice-Chair of Infection Prevention and Control of Al-Wakra Hospital and then Vice-Chair of Clinical Pathology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology of the Hamad Medical Corporation he has led several initiatives in Clinical Microbiology, Infection Prevention and Control and in management namely workforce affairs and governance matters within the DLMP.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic was appointed as the DLMP Focal Point for Covid-19 testing and was involved in numerous initiatives in the diagnosis, prevention and control of Covid-19 at the Hamad Medical Corporation including active engagement with the press, radio, and TV media.

Works as Senior Decontamination Engineer at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership/Specialist Estates Services. John manages the team where the role is defined to provide technical advice, validation services and promote and develop guidance. The work entails providing a service to Welsh Government and NHS organisations to ensure systems are in place to promote best practise within decontamination of medical devices and compliance with the appropriate regulatory framework. John works closely with multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals within Wales to promote standards for the decontamination of medical devices
Mark has been working in Health Care for over twenty years, starting as an Operating Department Practitioner in theatres, then progressed into theatre management and for the last 12 years has been an active Decontamination Manager at both Operational and Commissioning levels for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
Mark is very active in continual improvement of Decontamination processes both locally and nationally, representing on the All Wales Assembly Government Decontamination Committee and participating in reviewing and updating National Guidance for Department of Health.
Mark is currently researching the effects of different types of chemistries on protein / soil residues, the effects of ultrasonic activity on difficult to remove protein / soils, investigating biofilm issues within endoscope channels and also systems for keeping soiled instruments moist prior to reprocessing.
Dr Mas Chaponda is a Senior consultant in Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical corporation, Al Wakra Hospital, Qatar. He joined HMC in 2020 from the UK where he had previously worked as Clinical Lead and infectious Diseases consultant at the Tropical and Infectious Diseases Unit, Royal Liverpool hospital. He is also an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool as well as an honorary research fellow at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of physicians of London. Dr Chaponda trained in General Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Clinical Pharmacology at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. His interest include blood borne viruses, TB, drug interactions and clinical trials. He has spent the last 18 months managing patients with Covid 19 as well as supporting the vaccination center for Covid 19.
Dr Moza has a PhD from Indiana University Purdue University, Indianapolis, USA focusing on patient safety, and human errors. She is the only specialist on risk management and root cause analysis training in the State of Qatar and within the region. She has her master’s degree in health science, focusing on community health and epidemiology, from the University of Arkansas, USA. She also had her second post master’s degree in health administration from Indiana University, USA. She holds several different certificates and diplomas, such as a diploma in healthcare management and leadership, a diploma in human resources and a diploma in business enterprise.
Since finishing her doctorate in 2009, she has been involved in several training and teaching programs on patient safety, healthcare risk management and root cause analysis, understanding quality and it’s tools, the importance of innovation at work, leadership management and many more. She also worked as an investigator and trainer and has been involved in quality care, patient safety and root cause analysis training and teaching programs. She worked as senior infection control coordinator for many years and also as a chairman for root cause investigations. She was the Assistant Executive Director of Risk Management and Patient safety, then promoted to the Executive Director of Quality and Clinical Transformation. She chaired several committees as the Chairman of International Patient Safety Goals Committee, Chairman of Home Healthcare Services Infection Control, Chair of E-complaints Management and Chair of the Quality Council. She has trained, motivated and supported many staff at Hamad Medical Corporation since 2009.
She was involved in developing a strategic management plan for the Quality and Patient Safety Department. She believes in improvement and building capability and capacity to transform healthcare systems, she is also involved in healthcare transformation. Dr. Moza works closely with Sidra to improve strategic quality and patient safety. She has tremendous multiple achievements in quality improvement projects as reducing catheter-associated urinary tract infections, reducing ventilator associated pneumonia and using quality tools for improving HMC healthcare systems. Dr. Moza is the first Qatari national to have developed risk management and patient safety programs and strategic plans, she is also the first to have adapted, developed and tailored the HMC Coaching Clinical Program to improve the capability and capacity of healthcare providers. She is also the first to have conducted a Risk Management Week within the region.
Dr Emmanuel Nsutebu is a Consultant Infectious Diseases Physician and Chair of Infectious Diseases at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Abu Dhabi. He chairs the hospital Infection Prevention Committee and is the Medical Director for the Office of Access Management at SSMC. He is Chair of the African Sepsis Alliance and investigator for the African Research Collaboration on Sepsis. He previously worked at the Royal Liverpool Hospital as Associate Medical Director for Deterioration and Sepsis and clinical advisor for the National Health Service (NHS) England (sepsis and deterioration). He is a member of the Global Sepsis Alliance board and Executive Committee. He is a member of the SEHA Infectious Disease and Infection Control Council. He has a special interest in severe bacterial infections, multidrug resistant infections, TB, HIV, quality improvement, patient safety and clinical leadership.
