Wing Commander Raman Sopory is a distinguished Engineer and professional who was on active duty in the Indian Air Force (“IAF”) in the Aeronautical (Electronics) Branch for 25 years He has several academic qualifications to his credit viz. B Tech( Electrical) , M Tech (Lasers & Electro Optics) and Master of Management Sciences (MMS) and is a member of many prestigious professional bodies . His 25 years active service in the IAF includes 4 years at the Air Force HQ and 3 years at the Software Development Institute (SDI) , Bangalore, where he completed many Mega Avionics software Projects for new generation fighter aircrafts and other complex systems. As the Chief Engineer posted at India's largest Fighter Air Force Base in the Western Sector , he authored the new concept of zero defect in maintenance management. He commanded two high tech units in the IAF and was a member of a future technology think tank at the Indian Air Force HQ. He was the team leader of diverse critical projects in collaboration with Israel, France and Italy.

 

Post his service with the IAF , he was the India Director for the University of Westminster London Campus in India when he was handpicked by Wipro Infotech in 2005 as the first Defence Advisor.. Notably, the Aerospace & Defence vision of Wipro Group was drafted by him . After two years in Wipro Infotech as a Defence Consultant , he joined Wipro Technologies in a full time role where he astutely handled Global Offset Programs & International Cooperation and created history by arranging 65 Global business opportunities from Australia to America At Wipro, he was instrumental in  business co-operation deals with many Global OEMs and Tier 1 firms. Almost all the Global Major OEMs and Tier I firms know him personally and have the highest regard for his technical skills and capabilities.

He is 50 and father of three sons.
