Karthik Srivathsa is a vice president of healthcare engineering at Rauland-Borg Corporation, leading the development and validation of life safety grade nurse call system platforms at the edge, and enterprise applications for the acute care and long-term care markets.

He is the technical co-chair of the NEMA BSB-2 industry group and leading the modernization of the nurse call standard. Additionally, he is a STP member on the UL 2900-2-1 (healthcare cybersecurity) ANSI/UL 1069 (acute care nurse call) and ANSI/UL 2560 (assisted /independent living emergency call systems) standards committees. He has contributed to the AAMI/UL 2800-1 (medical device interoperability) standard and is a member of the NEMA AI council driving the design of smart buildings.

He holds a master’s in electrical engineering from LSU, master’s in engineering management and a master’s in business administration from the Kellogg School of management at Northwestern University.

He is passionate about using his experience in IoMT, cybersecurity, medical device interoperability and AI at the edge to prevent patient falls, prevent staff alert fatigue, enable  telehealth and remote monitoring of elders, and shift the continuum of care closer to the home or at home.
