In 1997, he was appointed as Consultant Medical Microbiologist/Infection Control Doctor of the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, UK. He was granted Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer status with the University of Sheffield. He was then appointed as Director of Infection Prevention and Control for the Trust in 2000 until 2017. 

He led the Level 7 Credit 30 Healthcare Associated Infections Module at Sheffield Hallam University annually since 2011 which was consistently highly evaluated.  He co-led the Medical Leadership Programme for Iraqi doctors, dentists and pharmacists at the University within the context of a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health. 

When appointed in Qatar November 2017 through his appointment as Senior Consultant Medical Microbiologist and Chair of Infection Prevention and Control Committee of Ambulatory Care Center and Vice-Chair of Infection Prevention and Control of Al-Wakra Hospital and then Vice-Chair of Clinical Pathology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology of the Hamad Medical Corporation he has led several initiatives in Clinical Microbiology, Infection Prevention and Control and in management namely workforce affairs and governance matters within the DLMP.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic was appointed as the DLMP Focal Point for Covid-19 testing and was involved in numerous initiatives in the diagnosis, prevention and control of Covid-19 at the Hamad Medical Corporation including active engagement with the press, radio, and TV media.

John manages the team where the role is defined to provide technical advice, validation services and promote and develop guidance. The work entails providing a service to Welsh Government and NHS organisations to ensure systems are in place to promote best practise within decontamination of medical devices and compliance with the appropriate regulatory framework. John works closely with multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals within Wales to promote standards for the decontamination of medical devices

I am a qualified Registered General Nurse with over 22 years of experience. I started my journey as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse over 10 years ago. I have a wealth of experience in different healthcare settings. My highest academic achievement is a MSc in Medical Law and Ethics which I studied in Leicester, De Montfort University. I have worked in the acute NHS Trust , Clinical Commissioning Groups, Ambulance Services and private healthcare settings in different capacities but most recently for over a year as an IPC Nurse Consultant. I joined Epsom and St Helier as the Head of Nursing for Infection Prevention and Control in May 2021. During my free time I spend time with family and friends. I am a wife and a mother of 3 young children, 2 girls and a boy all below the age of 12.. I enjoy sports, especially netball, walking and exercising for fun.

I am a registered ODP with an interest in Decontamination Science within the operating department as well as education. During my career I have worked in many roles from Theatre Manager to Sterile Services Manager for a large NHS Trust where I undertook further education in ‘Decontamination Science’ as well as ‘Leadership Skills’. In recent times I have worked as part of the commissioning team for a brand-new Hospital which achieved a CQC outstanding rating at its first attempt. Currently I am working as a consultant in Theatre Management to a large private healthcare provider in the UK whilst studying for a Masters Degree in Business and Administration with the Open University.

Marisa is an exceptional healthcare professional, balancing strategic leadership with maintaining specialist knowledge. A registered nurse with 20 years’ experience; 14 of these spent cultivating her expertise in infection prevention and control (IPC). With extensive experience in a plurality of settings, clinical commissioning is where she excelled. She has worked at regional level and currently leads IPC strategy for an integrated care system. 

Strategic planning is one of Marisa’s strengths; she has developed several GNBSI reduction strategies. Transformation of IPC services is another of her passions; she has successfully supported several organisations in delivering outstanding IPC programmes. 

Marisa’s educational journey has taken her on a path that includes BSc level studies in public health and health promotion and an MSc in infection prevention and control. Her current academic pursuit is in a Professional Doctorate in health science with a focus on the interplay between antimicrobial resistance and IPC practice.

An experienced senior infection prevention and control specialist, recently seconded to the New Hospital Programme as Clinical Fellow for IPC and Project Oriel for Moorfields Eye Hospital. Catherine has presented at international conferences, including the Infection Prevention Society, World Association of Eye Hospitals, Markets and Markets and the International Ophthalmic Nurses Association. Her work has involved contributions to national guidelines and policies, poster presentations at IPS and ARVO and author/co-author to several publications. Her interests include surveillance, IPC in the built environment, education, and collaborative leadership.

Richard is a registered physiotherapist back in the Philippines and have moved to the UK and pursued a career in Medical Device Decontamination for nearly two decades. Richard have held managerial responsibilities in numerous private and NHS and have gained numerous Medical Device Qualifications along the way. Richard is a certified lead Auditor for ISO13485, quality management of medical devices and recently joined Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust as Medical Device Coordinator- Contracts.

Mark has been working in Health Care for over twenty years, starting as an Operating Department Practitioner in theatres, then progressed into theatre management and for the last 12 years has been an active Decontamination Manager at both Operational and Commissioning levels for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Mark is very active in continual improvement of Decontamination processes both locally and nationally, representing on the All Wales Assembly Government Decontamination Committee and participating in reviewing and updating National Guidance for Department of Health.

Mark is currently researching the effects of different types of chemistries on protein / soil residues,  the effects of ultrasonic activity on difficult to remove protein / soils,  investigating biofilm issues within endoscope channels and also systems for keeping soiled instruments moist prior to reprocessing.

Natalie has worked as an Infection Prevention & Control Practitioner for 15 years in various health and social care environments. Her current role is Deputy Director/ Nurse Consultant of IPC for North West London Integrated Care System (ICS) alongside her independent work for councils supporting social care. The new ICS is one of the biggest in the country and her desire to ensure that IPC is visible at board level with accountability and system working to make a real difference to the local population. She regularly delivers infection control training and talks to universities, learning events and an advocate for IPC as a profession.

In the 13 years of my Infection prevention & control (IPC) career, I have built an infrastructure for IPC in the Royal hospital for Neurodisability (RHN) to develop systems that will manage, react and adapt to the evolving challenges of infection control. These systems enabled my team to react quickly and manage outbreaks including the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

I am a strategic leader, I am driven by my unwavering commitment to achieving exceptionally high standards and the relentless pursuit of higher quality and safe healthcare.

Awarded the Chief Executives Special Award 2020, Leader of the year 2020 and a British Citizen Awards for my leadership of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Trevor now works as an independent consultant providing professional advice and training in decontamination after 37 years in the NHS. He held various Decontamination roles at 2 Trusts and as such he has gained substantial experience within the field. Include the design and operation of new builds in sterile services and endoscopy. He also was an Associate Director of Clinical Support Services at Surrey and Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust for 2 years where he gained further knowledge of Pathology, Radiology, Outpatients, Cancer Services and Pharmacy.

Trevor was the Director of Education for the Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) from 2011 to 2018 (end of term of office) and led a team with Health Education England developing an apprenticeship programme for decontamination personnel. He is still a member of the IDSc education sub committee and arranges the speakers for the annual IDSc conference

Born in 1981 in Ludza, Latvia, USSR. Graduated University of Latvia as Master of Science in Biology in 2004. From 2001 to 2004 worked in cardiac drug discovery team in collaboration with Uppsala University, Sweden and Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis.

From 2004 to 2008 worked as clinical embryologist in EGV Clinic, Riga, Latvia. From 2008 to 2012 was head of Embryology lab in Nairobi IVF Centre, Kenya. From 2014 to 2019 managed CSSD in Sports Surgery Clinic, Dublin, Ireland. Got second degree - BSc in Decontamination Management from Institute of Technology Tallaght in 2017.

Currently teaching decontamination disciplines in TU Dublin to Irish healthcare workers and collaborating with the ASP as Application Specialist.
