IPS delivers pathology services to Airedale NHS\nFoundation Trust (ANHST) and BTHFT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is also the training Officer for the Biochemistry Department mentoring\nTrainees for both IBMS Registration and Specialist Diplomas. Uchenna Okeahiala\nis a fellow and Chartered Scientist member of IBMS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\ninterviewed Uchenna Okeahiala about her thoughts on the growing significance\nof the Point of care Testing amidst a Global pandemic. The role of POCT in\ndealing with Infectious diseases, her presentation at the Conference and her\ntake on the conference program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>What is the significance of\nPoint of Care Testing in the time of global pandemic?&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uchenna\nOkeahiala:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fast decision making\/ reduction in cross infection or transmission\ndue to availability of accurate rapid diagnostic tests\/there is also the\nincreased patients flow in assessment unit compared to waiting for centralised\nlaboratory results e.g PCR testing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong> <strong>How POCT is helping in diagnosis of Infectious Diseases and\nhow it is significant in current situation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uchenna\nOkeahiala:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>POCT plays a major role in providing an efficient diagnostic tool\nused to produce accurate and timely results of pathogens close to the patient<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\nis very significant in current situation as it reduces the waiting time to get\na patient result, accelerates patient\u2019s treatment while reducing spread of\ninfection\/outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong> <strong>What are your views on the agenda\nand how helpful it is to the targeted audience.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uchenna\nOkeahiala:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agenda looks ok.
